Good Morning,
With the upcoming snow event, we wanted to share a few quick reminders to help everything go smoothly and safely.
This storm appears to be a longer-lasting one, expected to drop 4 to 8 inches of the white stuff on us. We will send crews out for open-ups late this afternoon, then return to start cleanups once it all ends between 3am and 4am on Monday. Open-ups will involve making a few passes down the middle of roads we maintain to keep them passable. Driveways will also have a pass down the center to stay open. It seems it won't officially end until early Monday morning. Winds are forecasted to gust from 30 mph to 50 mph, making drifting and blowing very challenging. Many are advising against travel today and tomorrow morning, and I would recommend the same. Please give our crews space to do their work.
Front walks will be shoveled from the driveway to your front door as part of our standard service. Most shoveling is not done simultaneously with our plow crews going through your neighborhoods. Our crews will start this afternoon to remove some of the bulk off many properties and will work 12-hour shifts with 8 to 10 hours off. Shoveling times may vary, but it will definitely take up to 24 hours after the storm ends tomorrow to complete everything.
For your safety, please do not approach trucks, loaders, tractors, or any equipment while crews are working. Operators often cannot see you, especially in low visibility conditions. If you have something to tell us, we suggest using the communication system your property manager has set up. Know that sometimes our drivers miss a driveway here and there and we are human. We will do our best not to miss any and occasionally get turned around while doing repetitive tasks. We will be responsive if this happens.
If a car is left in the driveway and cannot be moved, that driveway will be skipped. Mailboxes and fire hyrdants will be cleared Monday and possibly Tuesday depending on when cities get streets done and cleaned up.
City sidewalks will start being done once the storm ends and our machines will work to get them open as quickly as possible.
Thank you for your cooperation as we work to keep both residents and the community safe. We appreciate your patience and understanding during winter weather.
