Spring Time Spruce Up

As winter begins to wind down property owners and managers will begin to think about how I can make my property look good quickly once the snow melts. Here are three items that will reap quick results and are incredibly good for your property.

The first item is a good dethaching and sweeping of all the debris that has collected all winter long from the roads, driveways, and sidewalks. Getting the turf clean once the soil firms up is a great way to allow the turf to begin growing vigorously.

The second item we always want to focus on early in the spring is a application of fertilizer that contains a crab grass preventer such as Dimension or Barricade. These two chemicals can be put down when temperatures are cooler and have a lasting ability of up to 5 months. We like to apply this when soil temperatures warm up to about 50 degrees Fahrenheit at a depth of 1 to 2 inches.

The third item to pay attention to is mulch. Mulching and remulching trees and landscape beds are not only a way to get instant pop to your property with new fresh color but we can also begin the process of stopping weeds before they germinate. With a depth of 2 to 3 inches of new clean mulch will really help give you that clean look you want moving into a new growing season.

Spring is always an exciting time for new growth and our scenery going from dirty brown to brilliant color. With the focus on these three items you can guarantee your property will be prepared to look fantastic all spring and summer long.
